Ballroom Dance Club

Welcome to the Ballroom Dance Club at the University of Minnesota! For over 30 years, we have sought to spread the love and understanding of ballroom dancing throughout the University community and Twin Cities metro area.

Ballroom Dance Club meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The intermediate lesson starts at 7:15 and the beginning lesson starts at 8:00, with both lessons lasting 45 minutes. Following the lessons, there are 45 minutes of general dancing. The full calendar for the club can be found here.
Intermediate lesson 7:15 - 8:00pm
Beginning lesson 8:00-8:45pm
General dancing 8:45-9:30pm

Your first two lessons are free! After your free lessons, the membership types available are as follows:
  • Full Student Membership ($40) - This gives you access to our beginner lessons and social dances on both Tuesday and Thursday and our intermediate lessons if eligible.
  • Single Lesson Pass ($10) - This is a one-time pass.
Student Service Fees/Affiliate Memberships
Members not paying Student Services Fees are required to purchase a membership to the University's Recreation and Wellness Center. If you are interested in doing so, please email Griffin Schmidt, our Safety and Facilities Coordinator at for more information. If you are a student at the University of Minnesota and are unsure if you are paying Student Services Fees, log into your student account and look for Student Services Fees, which will likely be immediately below tuition.
All members must fill out an online waiver before attending lessons, which is available in the links below. Students and staff at the University of Minnesota are required to fill out a University of Minnesota Participation Waiver; everyone else (including students at other universities) must fill out an Affiliate Participation Waiver. Waivers need to be filled out only once during each school year. Visit the Sports Clubs website and see the forms tab for the appropriate form.
